Experienced Exhibitor Crash Course: Understand Your Objectives

Welcome to another Experienced Exhibitor Crash Course class. This is part of our series “Exhibiting Strategy 101: Key Considerations When Designing a Trade Show Booth

The Experienced Exhibitor highlights crucial considerations when designing your trade show booth to stand out and deliver results. This week we want you to Understand Your Objectives!

Before you dive into the design process, we need to define your goals for the events you plan to attend. What are your priorities? Your booth design should align with these objectives and help you:

    • generate leads
    • boost brand awareness
    • launch a new product
    • network with industry peers

Tailor your design to align with your priorities for maximum impact. Specific goals can be addressed in different ways.

For instance, if lead generation is your priority, focus on creating interactive elements or offering promotional giveaways that capture attendee information. Offer a contest or raffle to encourage engagement and sign-ups. Incorporate clear call-to-action signage, such as "Sign Up for a Demo" or "Enter to Win," to directly encourage participation.

If your goal is to boost brand awareness, ensure your logo and company name are prominently displayed. Use large banners or hanging signs visible from afar. Consider towers and bold design elements to make your booth recognizable even in a crowded exhibit hall.

When introducing a new product your best bet is to include interactive demonstrations. Set up a live demo station where attendees can see your product in action. Make sure you highlight key features while answering questions in real time. You can create a buzz by hosting an exclusive product launch event during the trade show, complete with a countdown or ribbon-cutting. This is also great for lead capturing.

If your product is better suited to a prepared video, consider adding technology like touchscreens, AR/VR. And consider scheduling presentations or mini-workshops at your booth. This will help draw a crowd.

Use eye-catching booth designs, banners, TVs or LED screens that prominently showcase the new product and its unique benefits. Also consider featuring a bold, clear message like “First Look” or “Introducing [Product Name]” to grab attention.

And find ways to incorporate customer testimonials or use case studies to build credibility and excitement.

In the next Experienced Exhibitor Crash Course we will touch on ways to prepare yourself to “network” at events, trade shows and conferences.
